I stopped by the Hovenweep National Monument while travelling from Arches National Park to Mesa Verde, and it is definitely worth a short visit. This is just fantastic.

The Monument is on the 88 mile Canyon of the Ancients loop drive, so we decided we’d take a look. Great stop while on my way to Durango from Moab. From Pleasant View, Colorado - Turn off US 491 (22 miles north of Cortez) to County Road CC for 5 miles, turn left on County Road 10 for 22 miles, turn left to enter the park. I have been here maybe four times now and I would not hesitate to return. We didn't hike too much because of kids but we saw a lot. That's why visiting histo, Accidentally ended up here when trying to find Canyons of the Ancients, but I'm glad I did. We drove in from Cortez after spending two (snowy) nights at Mesa verde.
