The site is situated in the heart of Yosemite Valley, an awe-inspiring landscape containing many of the famous features for which Yosemite National Park is known. We would definitely return, but I would investigate what site I reserved, bring water shoes for the showers, and anticipate dirty bathrooms. This was not an issue in the afternoon and evening. Water from all faucets and fountains here are mountain fresh and clean...just bring containers and fill up. Sure there are other campers, but we made friends and even had a couple of different folks over to eat dinner.

We spent a heavenly week camping in the heart of Yosemite Valley, right at the end of September/beginning of October! Beautiful site with lots of trees and views of the mountains. Some of the interior campsites looked a lot more crowded.

There are also a lot of trees so halfway through our stay we had to drive and park in a day use area to get some sun on our solar panels to recharge. A nice campground in Yosemite Valley. Just be careful to not pick a campsite near the stables as the smell from the horses can be a little ripe in the morning.

Be sure to use the bear box, Rangers patrol regularly and will confiscate food left out. Hipcamp is working closely with the government to allow bookings here asap. No WiFi or on site shop. So overall for me, there are good things about this campground, but also some drawbacks. Now the things that drop my rating begins with the reservation system. Keeping food stored away properly isn’t just for the safety of humans, but also for the bears.

RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED THROUGH OCTOBER 31!
Reservations are needed and usually booked up the day they... more. Also, being packed tightly means that if you're downwind of your neighbors camp fire, you may end up in their smoke! Royal Arch Cascade is situated 3200 feet northwest of North Pines Campground.

But the in park, lodging alternatives are very, very pricey for what you get. Campgrounds outside the park entrance are a long ways away. The location was great because it was right next to the river and we only had neighbors on one side.

Life's Little Adventures would stay here again. There are no electric, water or sewer hook-ups available at individual campsites, although a free dump station is located nearby North Pines Campground is located at the confluence of Tenaya Creek and the Merced River in Yosemite Valley. -Flush Toilets Two things I was warned about but didn't experience were, long park entrance lines and lots of visitors...meaning that finding a parking space is tough. Yes, pets are typically allowed, but it's always best to call ahead to confirm. It is tight but we got our 37' trailer in there and loved the convenience of staying in the park. Although the reservation site says RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated, we only saw a couple longer than our 30'. the tall granite walls, starlit nights, the sound of the river, the campfire, etc. Nearby historic Curry Village offers a general store, restaurants and bar, amphitheater, and tours and activities desk. But if you stay in a high number spot, you'll reduce your chances of smelling it. We clicked at the exact moment the spots became available 5 months in advance and still ended up floundering to get a spot.

Are there any historical sites close to North Pines Campground?

At times it would have been safer to use the woods (which is unrealistic here). All of the spots were completely gone in about 5 minutes, so be ready or hope for a cancellation. Thankfully it washed away fairly cleanly with the rain…. (For now!) Bathrooms and showers were good given the crowds (free park admission so weekend was crowded). I found the recreation.gov to be pretty conservative in their max sizes for the sites.

Three nights was definitely not enough for Yosemite so we'll be trying our luck in the fall when sites are first come first serve now that we have a few more sites we feel we can fit into. The sites have picnic tables, fire pits with grills and bear boxes. This convenient location along the Intracoastal Waterway, puts Whispering Pines RV park & campground near quaint, history-rich towns such as Beaufort, Emerald Isle, Havelock, and Swansboro. Smaller of the three main Valley CGs. Data speeds were pretty decent in Yosemite Village however.

The other 3 nights we spend on Dimond O campground in the West of Yosemite. Yosemite’s free shuttle bus stops at the campground entrance.

Don’t Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! If you like being in nature...meaning you prefer a long walk instead of a short drive (appx 1 mile), this is a good location that is a beatiful walk to the Half Dome Village. Showers are not available; but they are available for $5.00 at Curry Village and Housekeeping Camp. If you have a bike, everything is close in my opinion. As is typical of national parks there are no hookups but there are flush toilets in the bathrooms and no showers. Each time they come in, they build a taste for human food and will get more and more aggressive to get at it. The only complaint was the smell from the stables when the wind is just right. more. You can get potable water and dump at the Upper Pines campground.

Even though we are out in the wilderness and sleeping in dirty, hygiene is a concern. The stop at North Pines is 18 and Curry Village. The water doesn't drain properly.

Upper Pines still had no unboosted cell signal to speak of. There's supposed to be wifi throughout the park but for some reason, we could never connect to it.

There are only a few spots that can accommodate a 30’ trailer so we were very fortunate to have snagged a spot.

No services. There is drinkable water and there were bathrooms with running waters. We were fortunate to get a larger site and that is why I gave it a 4 star.
