Editing came through on the final DVD version, though! View our Privacy Policy. i hate the set up of this version of the film so much. Unfortunately, many of the lyrics are difficult to hear clearly (what with the live sound not always the best) and the DVD is barebones, so it does not have subtitles. Bought this as a present. i am so utterly confused as too why so many people hyped up this version and why this has so many good reviews it is not good at all i HIGHLY recommended not watching this and watching hairspray 2007 because that version of the production is amazing and one of the best movies i’ve seen. Harvey Fierstein, continuing the tradition of a man playing Tracy's mom (Divine, Travolta), is fun to watch; and as writer on the teleplay tightens the script (except the ending, which felt padded like his breasts) and adds a few funny lines, like the Kruschev comment, that I don't remember in the movie musical.
