Grodin had long been a comic actor of some acclaim (Heaven Can Wait), but this was De Niro's first mainstream comedy, and he acquitted himself admirably as the irascible bounty hunter sent to pick up Grodin's white-collar embezzler. He delivers some of the best punchlines, when he replies: 'Well if you don't cooperate, you're gonna suffer from fistophobia.' What I was surprised about is what I thought was going to be funny was funny, and what I thought was going to be dramatic was even funnier".
