Henry Thomas suits the lead role of young Cody and delivers by far the strongest performance, off-set by Rachel Friend as Cody’s close friend, Wendy, and Tamsin West as her rambunctious little sister Jane. While it’s a prominent part of the narrative, I found the context a little confusing and not very well defined, which amounts to a missed opportunity, ultimately hindering my interest in the film.
There is an emphasis on Aboriginal dreamtime culture, which is a subject that’s always fascinated me and one that lends itself to so much interpretation with a firm anchoring point to nature and land. The American name change to "The Quest" was really a disservice; Frog Dreaming is the perfect name for this, especially since there's not really a "quest" in the movie. Seriously, all sorts of unexplained things happen, and we are just meant to accept it and move on, but that is not a wise way of finishing this adventure off. Antics displayed by the characters represents a wide variety of ‘Aussie’ stereotypes, but are thankfully toned down accordingly for the target audience. Even though the film doesn’t explain a thing, we do still get to enjoy a fun quest (the film was known as The Quest in North America), with a solid performance from Henry Thomas, the cool kid that everyone loves. Umbrella Entertainment has released a premium Blu-ray worth owning.
This movie is my favorite childhood movie & to have a great copy in replace of my old VHS copy is just a treasure for me to enjoy!

Basically, a film that any kid growing up would love to live. check out our gallery for more extensive screenshots from this release. Having seen it, I unfortunately wasn’t entirely taken in by the film’s story, which struck me as very flimsy and not particularly well thought out. Seriously, if I watched this movie as a kid, I would have walked into school the next day wearing a jean jacket and trying my darndest to be just like Cody.

We loved it. This page works best with JavaScript. I noticed one background character wearing a jumper with a kangaroo holding a jar of vegemite, which in itself speaks volumes. Another feature that runs approx 5-minutes is a look at the filming locations. Great flick, but they did not put much effort into the transfer but I think fans of the movie are just lucky to have it on DVD and not have to watch that VHS copy any more. A fun Australian kids adventure movie, with the kid from E.T., in the vein of something like The Goonies. Instead, I was just an ordinary loser, all because I didn’t get to see this movie as a kid. Many scenes felt merely stitched together with little regard given to story or any form of real development. The movie would play on my USA Xbox One S after a failed attempt on my Sony Blu-ray player. We also get a new feature titled The Go Kids, which features interviews with Rachel Friend and Tamsin West, who played Wendy and Jane respectively.

This is a movie I had searched for for several years and everytime I went to purvhade , it was out of stock.
